  • How can I be sure that the cremated remains I receive are those of my pet?

At Pets at Peace, we use the Pet Electronic Tracking System (PETS) to manage our cremation service.  PETS allows us to positively identify pets for cremation AND monitor their progress through the process.  You or your veterinarian can log onto our website so that you can always know the location of your beloved pet. We then certify the cremation with a cremation certificate that accompanies your pet's cremated remains.

    What is Cremation?

Cremation is a process where the pet’s remains are exposed to intense heat. Through heat and evaporation, the remains are reduced to the body’s basic elements. The cremated remains are what is commonly referred to as “cremains”. They can be safely stored indefinitely.

May I inspect the facilities where my pet's aftercare will be performed?

By appointment, a compassionate member of our staff can assist in giving you and your family a tour of our facility and provide answers to any questions that you may have.

If I choose private cremation can I be present during the actual cremation process?

Yes. Pets at Peace allows pet owners the time and privacy to say good bye to their life long companion, while providing a comfortable waiting area during the cremation process.

How long does the actual cremation process take?

The time for each cremation will vary. Generally, between 45 minutes and 2 hours.

In what type of container will my pet's cremated remains be returned?

Our standard container is an attractive wood urn with custom engraved name plate.  We offer many other quality urns, keepsakes, and memorial plaques.  These items can be viewed in our "Memorial Products" tab, or at our facility in San Ramon.

If I choose not to memorialize my pet with private cremation, what is done with the cremains after the communal cremation?

The cremated remains are respectfully spread in the Sierra mountains.

Are you available to come to my home?

Yes! You cannot always plan the loss of a pet, so for those unfortunate times when a pet passes at home, you can call and arrange for us to come to your home.  A nominal fee will be charged for this service based on distance from our facility.
